The Garrison Historic Area
Coconut Court Beach Hotel sits on seaside lands where quarters once housed field officers attached to the British Garrison 1789 - 1905.  Coconut Court Beach Hotel also sits directly opposite the old military general hospital (Pavilion Court) and the medical pavilion (Barbados Pavilion) that serviced the British Garrison; and is currently part of the proposed application to UNESCO for World Heritage Status for 'Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison'.  The historic buildings located on these sites are still in excellent condition. Pavilion Court (the old hospital compound, built in 1806) is now a unique historic apartment complex while the 'Listed' 'Barbados Pavilion' (1805) has been beautifully restored andwas re-opened by HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh in October 2003.
